DESCRIPTION
ID – CONTEMPORARY ART INDONESIA
Is an art exhibition with 11 international positions. The thematic focus is the abbrevation ID and its multiple meanings. The artworks deal with individual, national and collective identities and how their demarcations can be dissolved. Connected to these topoi are many discourses, that address the current state and cahnge of our world. ID is an abbrevation for Identity as well as for Indonesia. In German pronunciation it is indistinguishable from “idea”. ID – Contemporary Art Indonesia is part of an ongoing, long-term cultural exchange between Germany and changing partner countries in Southeast Asia.
